The ride is organized by a non-profit collective known as The World Naked Bike Ride.

On August 8th, 2019, Carlin Dunne tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. In light of this tragedy, the organisers of the event have announced that motorbikes will be permanently excluded from the competition. Bike racing was only temporarily excluded from the event after the accident, but it is clear that the risks are too high to continue allowing them. This is a sad day for the PPIHC and for the sport of motorcycle racing. Our thoughts are with Carlin’s family and friends during this difficult time.
